Hello,
I am sure that Steve McCarney could provide very detailed advice on this (
[email protected])
a few personal comments though:
Certainly getting more information on the performance of the solar Direct Drive refrigerators in the field will be highly valuable as these are very new devices and we have little experience with them.
However you should really define precisely the purpose and expected outcome of the monitoring programme you are putting in place and how you will use the data that you generate.
1) why do you want to monitor the performance of the solar generator? There are lots of data on the performance of the solar modules that manufacturers can supply : insolation/ Voltage/current curves at various temperatures (Temperature does influence the performance of the PVC modules) so what do you expect to find trough this monitoring ? and how long will the monitoring go on?
Insolation data can probably be found from the world meteorological organization or the national meteorological entities. I am not sure what value added you would get from collecting this information from a limited number of sites and correlating it to fridge performance (again Steve McCarney who has the expertise may have a different opinion)
2) The monitoring of the fridge performance itself is a different thing and you may wish to consider a remote temperature monitoring device such as the "Beyond Wireless" device which Optimize has been using in Senegal (Modibo Dicko Can provide details :
[email protected]) or similar devices and Sophie Newland would certainly be able to share a list of such devices (
