Dear viewers We wish to share the PPT on “COMBOCARD” – an outcome of interaction with many RI players; presented in the regular monthly Academic Clinical Society Meeting held on 26th Aug 2015 in KVG Medical College Hospital for further inputs and dissemination please. For achieving the objectives of Mission Indradhanush throughout the country and to avoid “substantial delay” in vaccination in districts with “GOOD” coverage it is better not to leave any stone unturned. Children of High Socioeconomic group vaccinated in the tertiary care hospitals including Private Medical colleges are found to receive  IPV - three to five doses; MMR first dose at ≥15 months,  missing the opportunity of receiving measles 1st dose before one year - delaying FIC,  deprived of HepB vaccine and BCG at birth - (partial newborn vaccination),  1st dose of HepB starting at 6th month and completing 3rd dose after one year,  often missing basic DPT / OPV or not documented when combo vaccine administered,  varicella / MMR administered at 1 ½ years reporting / recording as booster dose & MCV2. On scrutiny, vaccination status of the child could not be deciphered fully by the parents as they are not conversant with NIS / private college and hospital – because of inadequate documentation and frequent change of staff. Field staffs are familiar with NIS and not the optional vaccines/combo vaccines. As an attempt to solve this issue at least partially, developed a "COMBOCARD" in which country specific vaccines of NIS (Essential Vaccines) and the optional vaccines are discretely 'tabled' for clarity like separate "Veg n Nonveg" serving points with sign boards in a buffet so that the children of elite group also should receive essential vaccines compatible with country specific VPD epidemiology to support the NTAGI and the GoI to achieve higher FIC well in time. Essential vaccines are like the clutch / brake / accelerator of a motorized vehicle, AC / power window / rear wiper / music system etc are optional. The prototype was shared with many RI partners for feedback. From the technet-21, it was learnt that globally other countries are also having similar problems and wish to know how this can catalyze. Charity begins at home - we developed the “COMBOCARD” poster for UGs / PGs so that the outgoing doctors will have clarity and is being printed in the child health record card for clarity among beneficiaries.
