DTP & MCV access and drop-out rates

While coverage by 12 months of age for diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (DTP) containing vaccine is a major GVAP indicator, we also assess the coverage with other vaccines, such as the first dose of measles-containing vaccine (MCV1). Both measles and DTP vaccine coverage are indicators of health system performance. Measles immunization coverage is one of the indicators for tracking progress towards Millennium Development Goal 4 ("Reduce child mortality").

This visualisation illustrates the need for sustained efforts to raise and maintain high levels of immunization coverage, even in areas where elimination level control has previously been attained.
