Measurement of Condensation

We are working with ILRs. While daily operations, it was found that there is formation of water droplets inside the device. Kindly suggest some method or way to measure the condensation. Regards Akhil...

TechNet website update: Normal service is resumed

Dear TechNet-21 members, Good news: the TechNet-21 website is now back online. All areas of the website should work, apart from the TechNet Resource Library which will be restored tomorrow. You may notice the occasional styling glitch, but we are working hard to iron out all of these as quickly as possible. Last week we were forced to take the website offline as a precautionary measure after it was hacked. Luckily we maintain a complete backup of the website and have now brought it back online...

A productive 2016 on Immunization Monitoring and Data Quality

Since it seems that this got lost during the TechNet-21 hack, I am reposting. This was published in the Global Immunization Newsletter, January 2017:http://www.who.int/immunization/gin/en/ Last year, we saw great data visualisations, including an animated map showing the reduction in the number of unvaccinated children overtime, and the report of the Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP) was more interactive than ever (see: dynamic graphs of GVAP indicators in TechNet-21 ). WHO country profiles and...

PAHO Announces Launch of eHealth Country Profiles of the Americas

This info is very relevant for the work around electronic immunization registries (EIRs), given that one of the lessons learned from the implementation of EIRs is that ensuring that they are framed within existing national eHealth strategies is key for sustainability. I paste the info on eHealth profiles as it came from PAHO: Washington, DC, 14 February 2017 (PAHO/WHO)—The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), through its eHealth Program in the Department of Knowledge Management, Bioethics a...

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS REGARDING "TST" + JOB-AID FOR DISPLAY

Dear TechNet viewers Greetings Like many chronic diseases, whether communicable or non communicable, Tuberculosis is also an inadequately understood Vaccine Preventable Disease with frequent change in definition and treatment protocol. Towards evidence-based decision making for strengthening immunization supply chains: a review of literature

Immunization programs in low-income countries are facing the most ambitious targets of the last four decades: reach every child with existing and many new vaccines. The original immunization supply chains (iSCs) design, put in place in the 1970’s, is struggling to exceed an 80% coverage rate and is unable to support the increasing volume, complexity, bulk, and cost of vaccines. In recent years, the iSC community has recognized the need to encourage more comprehensive iSC redesigns to address the...

Recognizing the inefficiencies and associated costs of poor decision making to motivate a common sense business case for immunization information system investment

Poor decision making due to "poor data quality", meaning data that are ill-fit for the decisions that need to be made, is one of the biggest challenges we confront in our efforts to improve the health and well-being of women and children around the world. Globally, many (though not all) leaders now recognize that poor decision making and poor data quality threaten to stall the progress made over the past 20-25 years. We recognize the problem and have talked at length about it, but now we must ta...

A composite “HBR” for – MMU (Mobile Medical Unit specific)

Dear viewers In-spite of rapid progress in e-media, offline Home Based Record (HBR) has an important role in all the countries. WHO supports local innovation for sustenance as 6th and 5th principles of GVAP (Global Vaccination Action Plan). After reading the outcome indicators of a project, we developed a user-friendly card. Service providers at the field level can easily document the essential data of two mothers in the front page, compile and transmit in the monthly report for performance re...

Report “State of inequality: childhood immunization” now available

In December 2016, the State of inequality: childhood immunization report was released. It addresses two overarching questions: What inequalities in childhood immunization coverage exist in low- and middle-income countries? And how have childhood immunization inequalities changed over the last 10 years? In answering these questions, this report draws on data about five childhood immunization indicators, disaggregated by four dimensions of inequality, and covering 69 countries. The findings of th...

Consideration of further refining exisiting SOPs for imaging home-based records during vaccination coverage surveys

Some may be aware that the revised WHO vaccination coverage cluster survey manual encourages consideration of imaging (whether through photographing or handheld scanner) home-based records as part of vaccination coverage survey field work. Within the TechNet resource library there is a standard operating procedure(SOP) that has naturally evolved out of practical needs for survey staff guidance in one national vaccination coverage survey. While the existing SOP provides a starting point, in many...

Home-based record stock-outs — a quiet problem challenging immunization programmes that needs attention. Is bundling with other vaccine delivery supplies a reasonable solution?

Posting by: David W Brown, Brown Consulting Group International, LLC, North Carolina, USA Marta Gacic-Dobo, World Health Organization, Geneva, Switzerland The WHO and UNICEF recommend that immunization programmes order and supply vaccines bundled with safe-injection equipment (e.g., diluents, auto-disable syringes, reconstitution syringes and safety boxes) to better ensure that AD syringes along with other safe-injection equipment are available together with vaccines in appropriate correspond...
