I have never seen any document suggesting that low birth weight is a contraindication for new-born vaccination for institutional deliveries, although I have seen few paediatricians suggesting that, in case of low birth weight, vaccination of the new-born should be avoided.
Please let me know your evidence-based opinion. It would be good if one can cite a medical book suggesting the same.
The only vaccine given at birth and which will have sub-optimal response in LBW babies (under 2000 g) is Hep B. In this case the dose is not counted in their primary series. After one month they also respond adequately to the vaccine.
