Kartoglu (mailto:[log in to unmask]) proposes some comments relative to
the shake test and shares a slideshow to help its interpretation further.
Please note that a timer is included so you don't need to change pictures
yourself. It will do automatically....at least they're supposed to.

1. I agree with Sam Okinor's observations and suggestions. But would like
to remind that we have to be extremely careful when it comes to lowest
level. At this level, health facilities usually have only one refrigerator
and when something goes wrong it is all vaccines that are affected. It is
very unlikely that one could find (for sure) an alternative vaccine to use.
2. Thanks to Ms. Danile Kohl for sharing this beautiful presentation with
us. Here, I would like to underline that the shake test is not a STATIC
test that you shake the vials and come back in say 30 minutes to see the
difference. It is a DYNAMIC test that you cannot leave the site, you have
to sit before the vials and observe whether there is any difference between
sedimentation rates of the vials. Danile's pictures show just a snap shot
which you can tell the difference in this process.
3. I am attaching a presentation to demonstrate the "observation process"
of sedimentation rates. You will find additional explanations in the
presentation. Enjoy watching...
