POST 00748E : HEALTH CARE WASTE MANAGEMENT: MINOR GENERATORS 30 January 2005 __________________________________________ Vali Yousefi (mailto:[email protected]) from South Africa requests information on issues of health-care waste management. Yves Chartier (mailto:[email protected]) from WHO replies by referring to a document that has been recently approved and made official. It had been posted on our "draft documents" page for comments a number of months and has now been moved to the WHO Documents" page. The other document that was also posted for comments, "Guidance for the development and Implementation of a National Action Plan" has also been approved and moved as well. It can be found under the letter H in the list (Health-care waste management...). A third document has been posted on the same page "Preparation of national health-care waste management plans in sub-saharan countries" to be found under letter P. To visit this "WHO Documents" page, click on the following URL : http://www.technet21.org/whodocs.html __________________________________________ Could you kindly source me about Health Care Waste Risk Management especially about the Minor Generators (Produce less than 10 kg waste per day)? Any information in this regard would be highly appreciated in advance. Yours sincerely Vali Yousefi --------------------------------- Dear Vali Thank you very much for your mail. For your information WHO has recently finalized a document on the "Management of solid health-care waste in Primary Health Care centres." (to download : http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/medicalwaste/en/dmguide.pdf ). This is a practical document with various scenarios. It should answer your question. You can also look at the documents we have on these two websites: http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/medicalwaste/en/ http://www.healthcarewaste.org If you have any further question, do not hesitate to contact me. Best greetings and successes, Yves ______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________ Visit the TECHNET21 Website at http://www.technet21.org You will find instructions to subscribe, a direct access to archives, links to reference documents and other features. ______________________________________________________________________________ To UNSUBSCRIBE, send a message to : mailto:[email protected] Leave the subject area BLANK In the message body, write unsubscribe TECHNET21E ______________________________________________________________________________ The World Health Organization and UNICEF support TechNet21.
