POST 00877E : COMMENTS ON HEPB ARTICLE Follow-up on Post 00875E 12 January 2006 __________________________________ Anil Varshney (mailto:[email protected]) from India shares some comments on the article by Hipgrave et al. Comments on articles are seldom submitted to the forum but are quite welcome. __________________________________ Dear All, The findings of HepB vaccine in OCC at 45degree C for 1 week is quite encouraging and I do hope that there will be some study to look at storage at 45 degree C for more than 1 month. This will help in taking the vaccination to the homes where home deliveries are being undertaken, eg India, by TBA and others, provided the VVM is there which gives indication when NOT to use - by black or red color for TBAs (trained birth attendants ) and Dais (traditional untrained birth attendants) in villages and even in cities like Delhi where many families prefer home deliveries despite available qualified personnel and institutions. This will also provide an opportunity for a single dose vaccine to be promoted in the DAI / safe delivery kits, and vaccination could be given immediately at birth. Besides TBAs, the role of the private sector will also increase in immunization. Thanks Dr Anil Varshney (former project manager CVP/PATH for introduction of Hepatitis B vaccine in public sector in India for first time) ______________________________________________________________________________ Visit the TECHNET21 Website at http://www.technet21.org You will find instructions to subscribe, a direct access to archives, links to reference documents and other features. ______________________________________________________________________________ To UNSUBSCRIBE, send a message to : mailto:[email protected] Leave the subject area BLANK In the message body, write unsubscribe TECHNET21E ______________________________________________________________________________ The World Health Organization and UNICEF support TechNet21.
