Dear All,
The findings of HepB vaccine in OCC at 45degree C for 1 week is quite
encouraging and I do hope that there will be some study to look at storage
at 45 degree C for more than 1 month.
This will help in taking the vaccination to the homes where home
deliveries are being undertaken, eg India, by TBA and others, provided the
VVM is there which gives indication when NOT to use - by black or red
color for TBAs (trained birth attendants ) and Dais (traditional untrained
birth attendants) in villages and even in cities like Delhi where many
families prefer home deliveries despite available qualified personnel and
institutions.
This will also provide an opportunity for a single dose vaccine to be
promoted in the DAI / safe delivery kits, and vaccination could be given
immediately at birth.
Besides TBAs, the role of the private sector will also increase in
immunization.
Thanks
Dr Anil Varshney

in public sector in India for first time)
