POST 01080E : NEW REFRIGERATOR EVALUATION 16 April 2007 ____________________________________ A field evaluation summary of a new vaccine refrigerator is available at the following link : http://www.technet21.org/fichiers_Word/Twinbird_REV1.doc PATH evaluated 3 units in Indonesia in 2006. The refrigerator, made by the Twinbird Corporation of Japan, embodies several new approaches to protecting vaccines from freezing temperatures: a non-adjustable thermostat that automatically keeps temperatures in range; an integrated heating element to protect vaccines in freezing climates; and a digital temperature readout with min-max record. It is compact and energy efficient. The Twinbird refrigerator is awaiting the finalization of PQS specifications, at which time it will be submitted for WHO prequalification.
