West Africa is currently fighting the largest Ebola outbreak in history. What does it take to fight the deadly disease?

As many Ebola treatment centres fill to capacity, family members forced to look after their ill relatives are becoming exposed to the disease. Household protection kits allow family caregivers to look after Ebola sufferers as safely as possible. Each kit contains protective gowns, gloves and masks, as well as soap, chlorine and a sprayer, along with instructions on the use and safe disposal of materials. In Liberia, one of the hardest-hit countries, UNICEF’s partners, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), are distributing kits to the five counties with the highest rates of the disease.
