Immunization in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic: Operational guidelines for National Immunization Programs in the WHO African Region
Please find attached the draft operational guidelines from the WHO AFRO IVD program, developed for countries in the AFRO Region, in order to guide the conduct of immunization programs at the operational level, in the context of COVID-19.
The Regional guideline attempts to provide operational details to assist national immunization programs in the context of the AFRO Region, where the fallout from disruption to the immunization program may be serious, thus underlining the need for proactive measures to maintain routine services as much as possible, and prepare to scale-up in the immediate post-COVID period. This current version of the guideline may be updated as needed, following the evolution of the COVID outbreak, the lessons learnt from and the impact of control interventions, as well as accounting for best practices from countries. Please disseminate widely to local counterparts, partners and stakeholders.
This document is in alignment with the WHO publication 'Guiding principles for immunization activities during the COVID-19 pandemic' released recently.
