Dear Sir, The following report on health worker retention for better health indices is very important as in many states the health indices are unachievable due to shortage of staff at the village level. http://www.who.int/hrh/events/report_second_full_expert_meeting.pdf I have also conducted a small study to see the effect of health worker vacancy on the cure rate in the tuberculosis programme, RNTCP.It clearly shows that there is an inverse relation between health worker vacancy and the cure rate. The study was conducted in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, India, comparing the data with that of three other districts ( see attachment). Many studies have proved such a relation as a reason for no or low immunization coverage as well. Thanks and regards, Dr. Omesh Kumar BhartiM.B.B.S.,D.H.M.,M.A.E.(Epidemiology)Directorate of Health Safety and Regulation, Himachal Pradesh+91-9418120302[[email protected]][email protected][/email]; [email protected] ##text##
