New Vaccine Introduction and Uptake

A Race to Use Vaccines Boosts a Community’s Immunization Goals


The MOMENTUM Routine Immunization and Integrated Health Resilience projects provided technical and operational support to the Gao Regional Health Directorate of Mali to vaccinate the eligible population against COVID-19. The projects organized a mini-campaign to use doses close to expiration and engaged civil society organizations and influential community members to convey accurate vaccine information.

Promoting Immunization and Preventing Cervical Cancer through Social and Behavior Change Communication in Nigeria

 

Last October, Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency introduced the HPV vaccine into routine immunization (RI). Khadijah A. Ibrahim Nuhu, a senior social behavior change (SBC) expert at JSI, used SBC strategies and communication to increase COVID-19 and HPV immunization coverage and help Nigeria strengthen RI and move toward cervical cancer elimination.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the JSI-led CHISU Project partnered with Haiti’s Ministère de la Santé Publique et de la Population (MSPP) to rapidly expand the national health information management system. As a result, the MSPP has better COVID-19 vaccination supply and coverage data—and can build on this experience for future health emergencies.
