A new online training component has been added to the WHO Economic Value Chain Package for Influenza Vaccination to support decision making and implementation efforts for influenza vaccination in low- and middle-income countries based on economic data.

Economic Value Chain Package for Influenza Vaccination consists of three components that help countries to 1) assess the disease and economic burden of seasonal influenza, 2) estimate the projected costs of introducing influenza vaccine to national immunization programs and 3) conduct economic evaluations of influenza vaccination.

New online courses on OpenWHO platform complement in-person training and facilitate learning by providing information in user-friendly formats for decision-makers, national immunization program managers and analysts.

  • Disease and economic burden of seasonal influenza
    • WHO manual for estimating the economic burden of seasonal influenza and its Excel tool outline key conceptual frameworks, best-practice approaches and practical guidance to estimate the overall disease burden and economic impact of seasonal influenza.
    • New OpenWHO online course for estimating the disease burden and economic impact of seasonal influenza
  • Projected cost of influenza vaccine introduction
    • The WHO Flutool Plus - Seasonal Influenza Immunization Costing Tool is an update of the previous Flutool and helps to project total costs of influenza introduction for different risk groups by type of delivery strategy.
    • New OpenWHO online course for the WHO Flutool Plus
  • Economic evaluations of influenza vaccination
    • The Guidance on the economic evaluation of influenza vaccination (CETSI) presents robust analytical methods and outlines relevant issues that can arise when evaluating influenza vaccination strategies.
