Lately, Peru has introduced Hep B vaccine in newborns. The incidence of
Hepatitis B in Peru in coastal areas is less than 2 %, while in the Amazons
(Loreto) the prevalence is higher. Therefore, the vaccination strategy
should be different depending on the region.
What should be the recommendation in these cases? Should we vaccinate
without discrimination?, or should we previously proceed to study AgsHB and
Core AgHB antibodies titres?
How to use hyperimmune gammaglobulin against hepatitis B? for mothers who
have recently seroconverted, with a high-risk child whom should also be
given gammaglobulins before vaccination?
