Hi Colleagues,

I am excited to be moderating this very interesting webinar….

National pharmaceutical services units (NPSUs) are central government divisions responsible for medicines regulation, health supply chain, and pharmaceutical services. They impact the government’s ability to serve as stewards of the health system and ensure equitable and easy access to safe, effective, quality, affordable medical products and related services.

Many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are challenged by institutional capacity for important administrative and operational aspects such as pharmaceutical policy formulation, implementation, oversight, and promotion of quality and appropriate use of medical products. These have seemingly become fragmented or abandoned.

Strong linkages between policymaking, clinical and pharmacological expertise, and other areas of technical expertise (e.g., infection prevention and control) are essential to respond to these health crises effectively.

On February 27, 2024, at 8:00-9:30 am ET / 1:00-2:30 pm UTC, the USAID MTaPS https://lnkd.in/gnjqnGZU Program will host a webinar showcasing the findings of a study conducted by the USAID MTaPS Program that offers guidance for the mandate and function of NPSUs in LMICs.

This webinar will assist country leaders in pharmaceutical systems and those that support them to:

  • Consider the mandate, functions, and roles of national pharmaceutical units.
  • Reflect on current country level pharmaceutical governance and what steps can be taken to further strengthen those pharmaceutical systems.

Looking forward to seeing you there…
