POST 00762E : INFORMATION ON SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS? 12 March 2005 _____________________________________ Anil Varshney (mailto:[email protected]) from India has the following request for information on available software applications. _____________________________________ Hello All, Can someone give me examples or direct me towards appropriate ICT-based (Information Communication Technology) application and tools to support the efforts to strengthen and streamline operations of state's routine immunisation programme. Among others, the application and tools are to be directed at: (a) Enabling concurrent monitoring of movement of vaccines from the district storage point to the lower storage points and their subsequent supplies to actual service delivery points, (b) Enabling concurrent monitoring of the fixed-day-fixed-site service delivery for every facility / service provider (viz. the Sub-centre Auxiliary Nurse Midwives), and (c) Record cold chain performance at various vaccine storage points. The focus of the application /tools shall be to facilitate real-time monitoring of various aspects of routine immunisation programme leading to increased immunisation coverage of the eligible women and children and maintenance of high quality services to the population. • Allow program managers to track in real time problem areas / regions and allow for rapid response • Enable operational-level data collection, analysis and communication system for key program indicators that delivers timely information and communication functionality to operational project management while automating the roll-up of critical indicators to the State vaccine management cell. • Enable tracking receipt and release / consumption of vaccines at key distribution points. • Enable monitoring the quality of cold chain and assured use of efficacious vaccines • Allow mapping and analysis of coverage and consumption trends for resource allocation. • Allow identification of areas/domains for intervention Further, the effort will be to leverage existing ICT infrastructure and planned investments in this area to implement this solution, with a simple design appropriate for low ICT literacy users.
