Dear Group
Government of India has given enormous financial and technical assistance
to the states for improving routine immunization. There were divisional
level review meetings in Karnataka State and the following points were
discussed during the meetings. I request the group to contribute towards
the specific query enlisted as follows
It was found that the use of AD syringes improved the immunization turnouts
to a greater extent. The same phenomenon was observed as a fallout of
special J.E immunization campaign subsequently after which the Govt of
India has guided the state to use JE vaccine in routine immunization
campaigns.
These two of the many indicators suggest that use of better technology and
quality of services themselves would create reasonable "DEMAND GENERATION"
for services. It might be apt to know that this kind of Demand generation
is seen in districts with poor literacy and in those districts who are
geo-socio-economically weaker districts compared to other districts in
Karnataka.
1. Do we have instances like these to support that by mere improvement of
quality, we can actually increase immunization coverage levels?
2. If so, what other tools/factors apart from AD syringes can influence the
quality of services to improve and thereby have a significant outcome on
the immunization coverage?
Please contribute
With regards
