POST 01167E : PIS/PQS Follow-up on Post 01040E 5 October 2007 _________________________________ WHO PQS secretariat is happy to announce the official release of PQS E01 and PQS E03 product specifications and verification protocols which were approved by the PQS steering group on 14 September 2007. With the approval of PQS E01 and E03 performance specifications and verification protocols, suppliers of cold room (E01) and refrigerators and freezers (E03) for storing vaccines and freezing icepacks listed in the PIS 2000 edition are now subjected to re-evaluation that has to follow new PQS procedures. The deadlines for submission of product dossier for prequalification for these PIS listed items are set as follows: E01 : 31 March 2008 E03 : 31 March 2009 On the above mentioned dates, PIS E01 and E06 sections will be shut down while PQS E01 and E03 pages will become fully functional. From these days on, WHO will only recommend PQS prequalified suppliers for cold rooms (E01) and refrigerators and freezers (E03). Other pages that are changed in the PIS/PQS site are as follows: Product Information Sheets (PIS) Performance, Quality and Safety (PQS) Reference documents WHO accredited laboratories PQS secretariat is looking forward to receive submission of product dossiers as described in the manufacturer's guide for PQS prequalification. There are three manufacturer guidelines published. E01 (cold rooms and freezer rooms) E03 (vaccine refrigerators, vaccine freezers and icepack freezers) E03 (solar power systems) We would like to thank all organizations, institutions, companies and individuals who contributed to the development of these new product specifications and verification protocols.
